512,000 t of airfreight

For Q3, Changi airport registered 512,000 t of airfreight throughput, exceeding the same period last year by 13.5%. Growth was seen in all segments – exports, imports and transhipments, contributed by major improvements in cargo flows between Singapore and China, as well as the USA.

Australia, China, Hong Kong, India and the USA were Changi’s top five air cargo markets for this period. Two new airlines announced flights to Changi Airport this quarter. Air Asia Cambodia will begin daily flights to Siem Reap from 9 November, while Peach Aviation will commence a daily service to Osaka from 5 December.

As one of Asia’s most connected international aviation hubs, Changi airport links Singapore to some 160 cities globally, with close to 100 airlines operating more than 7,000 weekly flights. (cj)
