4,700 lorries stopped
In Switzerland, a total of 129,067 trucks, articulated trucks, vans, and buses were checked last year. 23,790 complaints were made. Breaches of regulations on weights and dimensions, technical defects, and non-compliance with the rules on working and rest times were the main offences.
In 4,700 cases, the vehicles checked were immobilised or the drivers were refused permission to continue their journey.
According to the new joint report issued by the Federal Roads Office and the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security, around 2,900 of the vehicles were registered abroad. (ben)
