4,650 HGVs immobilised
All in all, 139,732 trucks, articulated trucks, vans and buses were inspected for possible safety defects in Switzerland last year.
According to a report published by the federal roads office (Fedro), 24,410 complaints were made and in 4,650 cases the vehicles were immobilised or the drivers were not allowed to continue their journey.
As in previous years, complaints and immobilisations were mainly due to irregularities in weights and dimensions, technical defects and non-compliance with regulations on working and rest times. During the inspections, 41 manipulations of exhaust systems (including Adblue manipulation) were discovered. (ben)
