40,000 hours is plenty
In the Port of Hamburg, Rhenus Midgard is replacing a 20-year-old Liebherr LHM 320 with a LHM 420, which was recently delivered by Rhenus Project Logistics.
The new unit, which has a maximum lifting capacity of up to 124 t and a 48 m boom for best reach, will mainly handle breakbulk and containers at the Dradenau Terminal, a multipurpose facility close to the large container terminals HHLA and Eurogate.
The aim of the new installation is to shorten berthing times and help handle the steadily increasing cargo volumes. The new Liebherr crane uses an enhanced engine and exhaust technology to reduce emissions.
The LHM 420 was delivered from Rostock to Hamburg in fully assembled condition in a ten hour sea voyage on the open deck carrier "Aura". (cd)
