3PL buys transport broker
It is an American approach: The Pittsburgh-headquartered PLS Logistics Services, a third-party logistics company, has acquired D&L Transport, a transportation brokerage company based in Overland Park, Kansas.
Founded in 2004, D&L Transport is a non-asset provider of truckload solutions in North America. It is planned that D&L Transport will remain an independent subsidiary of PLS running its own operations, leveraging PLS's national carrier network.
The management also stays in place: Brian De Frain will still be president of D&L Transport, and all the company's staff will remain in the organisation.
The PLS carrier, whose network consists of over 65,000 pre-qualified trucking companies along with Class-1 railroads and major barge companies, will have an annual revenue run rate of USD 950 million and expects annual revenue of approximately USD 1.2 billion in 2022. (sh)
