30,000 cbm of solid fuel delivered
In the first four weeks of 2023, Rail Cargo Hungaria (RCH) transported 6,000 cbm of officially priced firewood from forestry production sites to retail outlets. Since October 2022, the company has already delivered 30,000 cbm of solid fuel to its destinations in its single wagon transport service.
This is a complex and resource-intensive operation: depending on the number and size of trees felled, forestry companies deliver two to three wagons of wood to 29 loading points.
From there, RCH-locomotives transport the loaded wagons to a marshalling yard, where trains are formed, and block trains are forwarded to twelve destinations. Every transport assignment requires four to five shunting operations at each marshalling point using a separate shunting locomotive. (ben)
