20 years of NPorts – driving Lower Saxony's hubs

Niedersachsen Ports (NPorts) is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025, having invested over EUR 1.5 billion in its 15 seaports. "We've never stood still – our gateways have grown in importance over the years," said Holger Banik (right), managing director of NPorts and JadeWeserPort.

The ports play a crucial role in energy security and the transition to renewables. Investments of EUR 284 million since 2007 have expanded offshore wind capacity in Cuxhaven, with new berths to be completed by 2028. The construction of liquefied gas terminals in Stade and Wilhelmshaven further underscores NPorts’ strategic importance.

NPorts directly and indirectly supports 49,500 jobs in Lower Saxony. "Every euro we invest secures jobs and shapes the region’s future," Banik emphasised. As Germany’s largest public seaport operator, NPorts continues to adapt to evolving industry needs, ensuring it's able to compete and remains sustainable. (ah)
