180 picks per hour
Pharmaceutical service provider Pharmaserv has opened a new 14,200 sqm pharma logistics centre in Giessen-Lutzellinden, Hesse, Germany. The facility features a fully automated storage system where robots can perform up to 180 picks per hour.
This autostore can hold up to 5,000 temperature-controlled containers in the 2°C to 8°C range and 25,000 containers in the 15°C to 25°C range and is currently being adapted to the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.
Pharmaserv converted and qualified the warehouse, which was originally built in 2020 for the wholesale of organic foods, to pharmaceutical standards (GMP and GDP) in just four months. Sensitive finished medicines can now be stored, picked, and packed safely for transport in three different temperature zones.
The warehouse is also suitable for pharmaceutical consumables and packaging items. Giessen-Lutzellinden is Pharmaserv's third pharmaceutical logistics centre. (ben)
