16-axle wagon transports extra-large equipment
Russian Railways Logistics recently completed a special transport, shipping large electrical appliances by rail from Novosibirsk in Siberia to Smolensk in western Russia near the border with Belarus.
This transport required a special vehicle, and the company opted for a 16-axle transport wagon with a load capacity of 220 t.
In addition to the transport, RZDL also took care of the scheduling of the load from the sidings of the manufacturing plant in the Novosibirsk region to the destination railway station in Smolensk and the transport over the "last mile". Equipment with a load capacity of 140 t was required for transferring the cargo from the conveyor belt to the truck. (ben)
