1.2 million t of CO2 saved
Last year, Hupac saved around 1.2 million t of CO2 and around 13 billion megajoules of energy compared to pure road transport. This corresponds to a reduction of 89% in CO2 emissions and 74% in energy consumption.
Also in the current year, Hupac is committed to strengthening the network and to achieving further qualitative improvements, the Swiss intermodal operator said. The green deal strategy provides valuable impetus for this.
The prerequisites for further significant growth in combined transport include for example the timely expansion of the European freight corridors to the parameters of 740 m train length, profile P400, and 2,000 t train weight with one locomotive as well as guaranteed capacity for the targeted growth of freight traffic.
