10,000 parcel stations in Italy

In a new partnership, DHL’s e-commerce division and Poste Italiane are working to establish 10,000 parcel stations in Italy.

Project “Locker Italia” commenced on Monday with the inauguration of its parcel station in Rome, as the first of many stations planned in the country to facilitate the dispatch and receipt of parcels. This is expected to be of particular use for e-commerce retailers as well as their customers, as it will enhance the ease of their online orders.

The venture is led by Enrico Rosina as CEO of Locker Italia. DHL has been feeding its e-commerce orders into Poste Italiane’s network since April, and the two have already have an established partnership in the sector. While Poste Italiane manages DHL’s e-commerce and parcel distribution in Italy, DHL connects the former to its European network. (mk)
