1,000 reefers to expand MMX service
Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) has added 1,000 new, 53-foot, refrigerated intermodal containers to its network, which more than doubles its existing fleet.
The new reefers bring more shipping options to customers using the expanding Mexico Midwest Express (MMX) Series premium intermodal service, the transport operator said. MMX is North America's first single-line rail service offering for refrigerated shippers from the Midwest to Mexico, a market currently served by trucks.
Furthermore, to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, CPKC has announced that it will commit to reduce scope 1, 2, and 3 well-to-wheel locomotive GHG emissions by 36.9% per gross tonne-miles by 2030 from a 2020 base year. (ben)
