100 natural gas HGVs for Argentina
Demand for utility vehicles powered by natural gas is increasing worldwide. In South America, NRG Argentina, a supplier for the oil and gas industries, has ordered 100 Stralis Natural Power trucks powered by CNG drive from manufacturer Iveco.
The tractor units make full use of the ecological advantages of natural gas. Compared to a diesel equivalent and owing to Argentina's taxation system, which favours non-fossil fuels, the use of natural gas can reduce fuel costs by 40% to 50% and cut emissions of nitrogen oxide by 90%, of particulate matter by up to 99% and of carbon dioxide by 10%. The use of biomethane can even deliver reductions by up to 95%. NRG Argentina's order is the largest of its kind in South America, Iveco says. (ben)
