10% less cargo carried by Emirates Skycargo
The Emirates Group has announced its 32nd consecutive year of profit, against a drop in revenue mainly attributed to reduced operations during the planned DXB runway closure in the first quarter, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in the fourth quarter.
The 2019-20 annual report shows a USD 456 million profit for the financial year ended 31 March 2020, down 28% from last year. Revenues reached USD 28.3 billion (-5%). With USD 3.1 billion (-14%), Emirates Skycargo contributed 13% of total transport revenue.
Yield per freight tonne kilometre, after two consecutive years of growth, declined by 2%. Tonnage carried reached 2.4 million t (-10%), due to the retirement of one B777F and reduced available bellyhold capacity in Q1 and Q4. Emirates' total freighter fleet now stands at eleven B777F. (ah)
