Lors d&#8217;une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie au port de Brownsville, au Texas, des repr\u00e9sentants de l&#8217;USACE ainsi que des dirigeants locaux et \u00e9tatiques et des partenaires du projet \u00e9taient pr\u00e9sents. Le projet comprenait un approfondissement des canaux du port de Brownsville de 3 m, portant les canaux d&#8217;entr\u00e9e et de jet\u00e9e de 13,41 m \u00e0 16,46 m et le canal principal de 12,8 m \u00e0 15,24 m. Ces mesures positionnent le port de Brownsville parmi les ports les plus profonds du Texas et am\u00e9liorent les conditions de navigation dans la r\u00e9gion.<\/p>\n<p>Le chenal plus profond permet un acc\u00e8s \u00e0 de plus grands navires et augmente la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de la navigation. Cela entra\u00eene une r\u00e9duction des temps de transit et renforce le r\u00f4le du sud du Texas dans la cha\u00eene d&#8217;approvisionnement maritime des \u00c9tats-Unis. Le brigadier g\u00e9n\u00e9ral George H. Walter, commandant de la division sud-ouest de l&#8217;USACE, a soulign\u00e9 que l&#8217;ach\u00e8vement du projet repr\u00e9sente non seulement un progr\u00e8s en mati\u00e8re de navigation, mais aussi un investissement strat\u00e9gique dans la force \u00e9conomique des \u00c9tats-Unis.<\/p>\n<h3>Importance \u00e9conomique pour la r\u00e9gion<\/h3>\n<p>Le d\u00e9put\u00e9 am\u00e9ricain Vicente Gonzalez, qui repr\u00e9sente le port de Brownsville dans son district, a soulign\u00e9 l&#8217;importance du projet pour l&#8217;\u00e9conomie locale. Il a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le financement par la loi bipartisane sur les infrastructures repr\u00e9sente un investissement tant attendu pour le sud du Texas et la vall\u00e9e du Rio Grande. Gonzalez a insist\u00e9 sur le fait que la connexion de la r\u00e9gion aux march\u00e9s mondiaux cr\u00e9e de nouvelles opportunit\u00e9s pour les travailleurs et les entreprises locales.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 comme l&#8217;un des quatre projets pilotes pour les partenariats public-priv\u00e9 de l&#8217;USACE et d\u00e9montre comment les partenaires publics, locaux et priv\u00e9s peuvent combiner ressources et expertise pour r\u00e9aliser des projets d&#8217;infrastructure significatifs plus rapidement. Le colonel David W. Dake, commandant du district de Galveston de l&#8217;USACE, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que l&#8217;ach\u00e8vement du projet est le r\u00e9sultat de plusieurs ann\u00e9es de planification et de collaboration qui ont permis de cr\u00e9er une infrastructure de navigation plus s\u00fbre et plus performante.<\/p>\n<p>Les mesures comprenaient non seulement l&#8217;approfondissement du canal, mais aussi l&#8217;am\u00e9lioration des postes d&#8217;amarrage et l&#8217;installation d&#8217;aides \u00e0 la navigation mises \u00e0 jour. Le port de Brownsville pr\u00e9voit \u00e9galement d&#8217;investir 50 millions de dollars suppl\u00e9mentaires dans des am\u00e9liorations terrestres. Sergio Tito Lopez, pr\u00e9sident du district de navigation de Brownsville, a exprim\u00e9 que l&#8217;am\u00e9lioration du canal augmente la capacit\u00e9 du port et peut attirer de nouvelles industries.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 divis\u00e9 en deux segments, le segment A et certains zones de placement \u00e9tant financ\u00e9s par des fonds priv\u00e9s, tandis que le segment B a \u00e9t\u00e9 soutenu par l&#8217;USACE et le port de Brownsville. Les travaux de dragage pour le segment A ont commenc\u00e9 le 12 ao\u00fbt 2024, et les travaux pour le segment B ont d\u00e9but\u00e9 le 30 novembre 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Avec l&#8217;ach\u00e8vement du projet, les navires peuvent d\u00e9sormais transporter plus de fret, ce qui augmente la comp\u00e9titivit\u00e9 du port. William Dietrich, directeur et PDG du port de Brownsville, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le chenal plus profond am\u00e9liore consid\u00e9rablement les capacit\u00e9s op\u00e9rationnelles du port et augmente l&#8217;efficacit\u00e9 du transport de fret.<\/p>\n<p>En plus des avantages op\u00e9rationnels, le projet renforce \u00e9galement la connexion maritime strat\u00e9gique pr\u00e8s de la fronti\u00e8re am\u00e9ricano-mexicaine. Les conditions d&#8217;acc\u00e8s am\u00e9lior\u00e9es soutiennent le commerce international et le transport de produits \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques ainsi que d&#8217;autres biens essentiels. Tarik Skeik, COO de NextDecade, a soulign\u00e9 que le chenal am\u00e9lior\u00e9 soutient le d\u00e9veloppement et l&#8217;exploitation des infrastructures de GNL dans la r\u00e9gion et renforce les
