La d\u00e9cision a \u00e9t\u00e9 prise en raison de lourdes pressions financi\u00e8res caus\u00e9es par la hausse des prix du carburant et une activit\u00e9 a\u00e9rienne r\u00e9duite. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 a annonc\u00e9 que les affaires seraient d\u00e9sormais g\u00e9r\u00e9es par les administrateurs judiciaires Stuart Morris, Robert Fishman et David Soden de Teneo Financial Advisory.<\/p>\n<p>Dans un communiqu\u00e9, Teneo a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que la faillite \u00e9tait due \u00e0 une p\u00e9riode de difficult\u00e9s financi\u00e8res exacerb\u00e9es par la baisse des commandes et l&#8217;augmentation des co\u00fbts d&#8217;exploitation. La compagnie a\u00e9rienne a suspendu ses op\u00e9rations et se voit contrainte de proc\u00e9der \u00e0 des licenciements. Les employ\u00e9s concern\u00e9s seront inform\u00e9s en priorit\u00e9, tandis que les administrateurs judiciaires entreront \u00e9galement en contact avec les clients, les fournisseurs et les cr\u00e9anciers.<\/p>\n<p>European Cargo a \u00e9t\u00e9 fond\u00e9e en avril 2020 pour transporter des \u00e9quipements m\u00e9dicaux pour le gouvernement britannique pendant la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19. La compagnie a\u00e9rienne a utilis\u00e9 une flotte d&#8217;Airbus A340-600 modifi\u00e9s, initialement acquis aupr\u00e8s de diverses compagnies a\u00e9riennes telles que Virgin Atlantic et Iberia. Au d\u00e9part, la compagnie exploitait les avions sans si\u00e8ges passagers, avant qu&#8217;ils ne soient convertis en configuration de fret permanente en 2022.<\/p>\n<h3>D\u00e9fis financiers et suspension des op\u00e9rations<\/h3>\n<p>Selon les derniers rapports financiers, European Cargo a enregistr\u00e9 une perte nette de 26 millions USD pour l&#8217;ann\u00e9e 2024, avec des revenus de 136 millions USD. Cela repr\u00e9sente une l\u00e9g\u00e8re am\u00e9lioration par rapport \u00e0 une perte nette de 30,6 millions USD en 2023. Malgr\u00e9 l&#8217;augmentation des revenus gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l&#8217;expansion de la flotte et des op\u00e9rations, la compagnie a\u00e9rienne n&#8217;a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 en mesure de surmonter les d\u00e9fis financiers.<\/p>\n<p>Les derniers vols ont eu lieu le 19 mai 2026, avant que l&#8217;ensemble de la flotte, compos\u00e9e de six A340-600, ne reste au sol. La faillite a \u00e9t\u00e9 officiellement annonc\u00e9e le 3 juin. Des employ\u00e9s ont rapport\u00e9 avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 inform\u00e9s de leurs licenciements via Microsoft Teams, ce qui souligne l&#8217;incertitude et la pression au sein de l&#8217;entreprise.<\/p>\n<p>La hausse des prix du carburant, en particulier en raison des tensions g\u00e9opolitiques au Moyen-Orient, a augment\u00e9 les co\u00fbts d&#8217;exploitation pour des avions moins efficaces en termes de consommation de carburant comme l&#8217;A340-600. Cela a conduit certaines entreprises de fret \u00e0 se tourner vers des avions plus efficaces pour r\u00e9duire la pression \u00e9conomique.<\/p>\n<p>European Cargo proposait \u00e9galement <a href=\"https:\/\/transportjournal.com\/2026\/03\/03\/cargo-flights-to-china-from-teesside\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">des vols de fret entre la Chine et l&#8217;a\u00e9roport international de Teesside<\/a> et avait \u00e9tabli une base op\u00e9rationnelle \u00e0 l&#8217;a\u00e9roport du nord-est de l&#8217;Angleterre.
