Depuis lors, des trains et des camions sont trait\u00e9s quotidiennement dans la nouvelle installation, qui permet une connexion directe entre le hub int\u00e9rieur pour l&#8217;industrie manufacturi\u00e8re et le port de Savannah. Selon Griff Lynch, pr\u00e9sident et PDG de la Georgia Ports Authority, le nouveau site \u00e9tend la port\u00e9e du port de Savannah jusqu&#8217;au c\u0153ur du nord-est de la G\u00e9orgie. Les fabricants de la r\u00e9gion b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient d&#8217;une connexion ferroviaire fluide, reliant plus de 40 arriv\u00e9es de navires hebdomadaires aux march\u00e9s mondiaux.<\/p>\n<p>Le Gainesville Inland Port offre aux exp\u00e9diteurs une alternative \u00e0 un trajet aller-retour de pr\u00e8s de 1000 km en camion, ce qui devrait r\u00e9duire le nombre de camions sur les routes de G\u00e9orgie et dans la r\u00e9gion d&#8217;Atlanta. La GPA pr\u00e9voit de transf\u00e9rer 26 000 conteneurs vers le rail au cours de la premi\u00e8re ann\u00e9e d&#8217;exploitation, ce qui pourrait am\u00e9liorer le flux de trafic sur les routes et r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions.<\/p>\n<p>Actuellement, environ 80 % des cargaisons de Savannah sont transport\u00e9es par camion et 20 % par train. Le rail devient particuli\u00e8rement rentable \u00e0 partir d&#8217;une distance de 400 km, surtout compte tenu de la hausse des prix du diesel. Le port se distingue par sa rapidit\u00e9 et sa flexibilit\u00e9 : il y a 40 arriv\u00e9es de navires hebdomadaires, 42 trains \u00e0 double \u00e9tage reliant les march\u00e9s int\u00e9rieurs, et un temps de s\u00e9jour de 20 heures ou moins pour les trains. Les portes de camions traitent entre 14 000 et 16 000 mouvements par jour, avec des temps de passage pour les trajets doubles inf\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 50 minutes et pour les trajets simples \u00e0 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>La GPA collabore avec Norfolk Southern pour ce nouveau service. \u00c0 pleine capacit\u00e9, le Gainesville Inland Port atteindra une capacit\u00e9 annuelle de 200 000 conteneurs. Pour minimiser les impacts de circulation du nouveau terminal de fret sur les communaut\u00e9s locales \u00e0 Gainesville, la GPA a investi 4,8 millions de dollars dans des projets routiers dans le comt\u00e9 de Hall. Cela inclut l&#8217;\u00e9limination d&#8217;un passage \u00e0 niveau, la d\u00e9viation de la White Sulphur Road et le bitumage de la Cagle Road. La nouvelle route White Sulphur au sud du terminal int\u00e9rieur garantit un acc\u00e8s libre pour les v\u00e9hicules d&#8217;intervention et \u00e9vite les perturbations de circulation caus\u00e9es par les trains.
