Cela fait suite \u00e0 une pause de six mois impos\u00e9e apr\u00e8s l&#8217;accident mortel d&#8217;un MD-11F de UPS en novembre 2025. L&#8217;Autorit\u00e9 f\u00e9d\u00e9rale de l&#8217;aviation am\u00e9ricaine (FAA) avait alors \u00e9mis une directive d&#8217;urgence, ordonnant une inspection compl\u00e8te de la flotte de MD-11F. FedEx avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 annonc\u00e9 en janvier qu&#8217;elle collaborait avec Boeing et la FAA pour permettre le retour des avions d&#8217;ici la fin du quatri\u00e8me trimestre, qui se termine le 31 mai.<\/p>\n<p>La flotte de FedEx comprend au total 29 MD-11F, actuellement stationn\u00e9s. La plupart de ces freighters ont plus de 30 ans, le mod\u00e8le le plus ancien ayant 36 ans. La d\u00e9cision de FedEx de remettre les MD-11F en service pourrait surprendre certains dans l&#8217;industrie, car l&#8217;\u00e2ge des avions soul\u00e8ve des pr\u00e9occupations. En revanche, UPS a retir\u00e9 tous ses MD-11F au quatri\u00e8me trimestre 2025 et pr\u00e9voit de les remplacer par des Boeing 767F.<\/p>\n<h3>Remise en service apr\u00e8s inspections<\/h3>\n<p>La flotte de MD-11F de FedEx a \u00e9t\u00e9 temporairement immobilis\u00e9e apr\u00e8s l&#8217;accident chez UPS, qui a co\u00fbt\u00e9 la vie \u00e0 15 personnes. L&#8217;accident s&#8217;est produit lorsque le moteur gauche s&#8217;est d\u00e9tach\u00e9 de l&#8217;aile en mont\u00e9e, entra\u00eenant une perte de contr\u00f4le de l&#8217;avion. Le National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) a indiqu\u00e9 dans ses conclusions pr\u00e9liminaires qu&#8217;une rupture par fatigue dans le support du moteur \u00e9tait en cause. Cette faiblesse avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9voqu\u00e9e dans un m\u00e9mo de maintenance de Boeing en 2011.<\/p>\n<p>La FAA a initialement clou\u00e9 au sol les MD-11 apr\u00e8s l&#8217;incident, mais n&#8217;a pas exclu une nouvelle autorisation, \u00e0 condition que les inspections et r\u00e9parations n\u00e9cessaires soient effectu\u00e9es. FedEx pr\u00e9voit de remettre progressivement les MD-11F en service une fois les mesures n\u00e9cessaires compl\u00e8tes.<\/p>\n<p>Les impacts de l&#8217;immobilisation des MD-11F sur la capacit\u00e9 de fret mondiale ont \u00e9t\u00e9 limit\u00e9s, car ces avions \u00e9taient principalement utilis\u00e9s sur des routes nationales.
