Le contrat fait suite \u00e0 l&#8217;annonce du gouvernement australien en novembre 2024, s\u00e9lectionnant le LST 100 comme conception pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e pour le programme des Landing Craft Heavy (LCH). Cette d\u00e9cision a \u00e9t\u00e9 prise apr\u00e8s un processus d&#8217;appel d&#8217;offres concurrentiel.<\/p>\n<p>La conception du LST 100 a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisie en raison de ses capacit\u00e9s op\u00e9rationnelles \u00e9prouv\u00e9es et de son historique d&#8217;utilisation r\u00e9ussi. Un mod\u00e8le ant\u00e9rieur a d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 construit et livr\u00e9, ce qui a conduit \u00e0 une acceptation internationale accrue, y compris la s\u00e9lection par NAVSEA pour la United States Navy.<\/p>\n<p>Ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, les organisations de d\u00e9fense ont de plus en plus adopt\u00e9 des conceptions de navires \u00e9prouv\u00e9es et en service afin de minimiser les risques du programme et de r\u00e9duire les d\u00e9lais de livraison. En utilisant des plateformes \u00e9tablies avec un bilan op\u00e9rationnel prouv\u00e9, les incertitudes techniques peuvent \u00eatre r\u00e9duites et les d\u00e9lais de d\u00e9veloppement raccourcis.<\/p>\n<h3>Production \u00e0 Henderson<\/h3>\n<p>Les navires seront construits par Austal dans le cadre d&#8217;un contrat strat\u00e9gique de construction navale de 15 ans avec le gouvernement australien. Au total, huit Landing Craft Heavy doivent \u00eatre livr\u00e9s sur une p\u00e9riode de douze ans, la construction devant commencer cette ann\u00e9e. La construction se fera \u00e0 Henderson en utilisant les installations d&#8217;Austal ainsi que celles de l&#8217;AMC CUF, \u00e0 23 km au sud de Perth. Le complexe joue d\u00e9j\u00e0 un r\u00f4le important dans le soutien de l&#8217;\u00e9conomie locale et est actuellement en cours de modernisation compl\u00e8te pour permettre de grands projets de navires de d\u00e9fense dans les ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir. Damen souligne que l&#8217;entreprise est fi\u00e8re d&#8217;apporter son expertise et son savoir-faire \u00e0 ce projet de construction navale australien, qui am\u00e9liorera les capacit\u00e9s des forces arm\u00e9es, soutiendra la durabilit\u00e9 et favorisera le d\u00e9veloppement r\u00e9gional.<\/p>\n<p>Le programme des Landing Craft Heavy soutient la contribution de l&#8217;arm\u00e9e australienne \u00e0 la Strat\u00e9gie de D\u00e9fense Nationale 2024, qui vise \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la capacit\u00e9 de l&#8217;arm\u00e9e \u00e0 mener des op\u00e9rations agiles, distribu\u00e9es et littorales dans le cadre d&#8217;une force int\u00e9gr\u00e9e. Les nouveaux navires aideront l&#8217;arm\u00e9e \u00e0 projeter, soutenir et approvisionner les forces terrestres \u00e0 travers les acc\u00e8s nord de l&#8217;Australie et dans la r\u00e9gion \u00e9largie.<\/p>\n<p>Chaque navire mesurera 100 m de long et 16 m de large et sera capable de transporter plus de 500 t de v\u00e9hicules militaires et d&#8217;\u00e9quipements.
