Xenos Marine names largest US-built heavylift vessel

Xenos Marine has christened the TX-10,000, the largest heavylift vessel ever built in the USA, at Gulf Copper Shipyard in Galveston TX.

The 297 m long, 310 m wide and 250 m high vessel features a gantry system with a lifting capacity of 10,000 t and is fully Jones Act-compliant. Originally constructed in 2010 and known for its role in the removal of the wreck of the ‘Golden Ray’, it has now re-entered service after five years in the drydock.

It’s 44 diesel engines, eight thrusters, an eight-point anchoring system, two helidecks and the largest lifting claws in the world make the TX-10,000 perfectly designed for ultra-heavy offshore lifts and platform decommissioning. Operated by Xenos Marine, a joint venture of Matt Fish and the Teichman Group, the vessel will return to Sabine Pass TX to prepare for projects. (ah)
