Where's the nearest truck parking space?
No space to park: about 40,000 truck parking spaces are lacking on and around Germany's motorways. Drivers often have to search for a regular parking space for so long that they risk breaching driving time regulations. Many drivers therefore park their vehicles in an unsafe and accident-prone location.
Artificial intelligence should now make it easier to find the nearest free parking space for a truck. The insurance company Kravag has launched the smart optimised lorry parking (SOLP) project.
With its partners - its subsidiary SVG, the Frauenhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute and Blue Consult - Kravag is developing a system that provides information on free parking spaces according to the traffic light principle. (ben)
