VTG steel train en route across Europe
The steel industry is currently responsible for around 10% of global CO2 emissions. It must therefore switch to renewable fuels, if the world’s economy is to make any substantial steps towards carbon-neutral production. No other industry is capable of reducing such high amounts of CO2 so quickly.
The wagon leasing company VTG, based in Germany, has launched a steel train campaign to support the “green” transformation. After a kick-off event held at the company’s maintenance workshop Waggonwerk Brühl, the steel train will now be travelling across Europe until mid-November with stops in Germany, France, Austria, Italy and Poland to show how the steel industry can promote the green transformation.
