Vectrons to expand international services
In Malmö, Sweden, the Swedish railfreight company Green Cargo recently took delivery of the first of ten new Vectron locomotives ordered from Siemens. The new multiple unit will initially operate as a training locomotive on the Malmö - Trelleborg route.
Equipped with ETCS, the locomotives will be deployed in international traffic on the corridor between Malmö and Maschen (Germany) from 2024. The six locomotives currently operating on this corridor will be integrated into Green Cargo's domestic network.
Five of the new Vectrons will be leased from Akiem and the other five from Alpha Trains. Green Cargo will use the new rolling stock to expand its international services. (ben)
