US Air Force carries aid to Central America

Over a weekend-long combined humanitarian and training mission, three C-17 Globemaster III aircraft and their reserve citizen airmen crews from the 315th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston SC (USA), recently delivered humanitarian aid to Guatemala, Haiti and Honduras.

The three missions were planned to maintain the aircrews’ flying currency and readiness requirements, while delivering medical supplies, an ambulance and several tons of food to outreach organisations in their respective countries.

The humanitarian aid was donated by several US-based charities. The donations, weighing some 4 t, was valued at approximately USD 90,000. The donors estimate that the aid supplies will touch the lives of nearly 130,000 people overall.
