UP expands intermodal service
The newly launched train runs daily from the US class I railroad's intermodal terminal at the City of Industry in California to Global 2 in Northlake, Illinois, located near the heart of the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
The domestic intermodal service cuts transit times down to three days and offers faster freight interchanges with other railroads for trains bound for the Ohio Valley and Northeast US destinations.
In addition, the westbound service from Global 2 to the City of Industry and Inland Empire Intermodal Terminal will be provided as a premium train as well, the railroad said. This is currently the second premium train to be operated by UP in a daily service between Los Angeles and Chicago. (ben)
