UK’s first e-tipper truck in operation
Transition from diesel to battery electric heavy trucks: Fox Group has become the first business in UK to introduce electric tipper trucks into its fleet. The family-owned company has purchased two new Volvo FE electric tippers. The pair will operate from the company’s depot on the Enterprise Business Park in Leyland.
The purchase marks the start of the electrification of Fox’s fleet. Both vehicles are plated at 27 t – 1 t more than a standard three-axle rigid – which helps to offset the additional weight of the batteries. They will be deployed primarily in local contracts for customers such as Lancashire County Council and used to move materials to and from construction sites. (ben)
