UK intermodal operator augments its green fleet

Maritime Transport is joining the zero emission HGV and infrastructure demonstrator, a GBP 200 million (EUR 230 million) investment programme aimed at supporting the freight sector on its path to net zero.

As part of the programme, the UK intermodal specialist will integrate 41 battery electric and two hydrogen fuel cell trucks into its fleet from 2025, sourced from major vehicle manufacturers.

39 charging stations, capable of delivering up to 400 kWh, will be installed in the company’s network. The new vehicles are in line with Maritime’s strategy to handle more goods by rail, with battery and hydrogen-powered trucks completing first and final-mile deliveries. (ben)
