Two "Aces" in USA – one too many perhaps?

Ace Belgium Freighters, a new Liege-based airline that secured its AOC only one month ago, seems to have encountered opposition in its bid to start commercial cargo flights to the USA, where the department of transportation (DoT) records show that a near-namesake carrier, Alaska Central Express (photo), has objected to a DoT show cause order that tentatively granted the Belgian start-up a foreign air carrier permit.

The Anchorage AK (USA)-based carrier notified the DoT in its submission that it had requested that Ace Belgium immediately discontinue its plans to provide air cargo services in the USA under the name "Ace".

After introducing flights between Belgium and Tel Aviv (Israel), the new Ace plans to introduce four flights per week to New York JFK and a weekly service to Atlanta GA, using B747F equipment. (ah)
