Trial runs for automated braking system
German rail logistics company VTG and Siemens are jointly testing an innovative brake monitoring system (BMS) for automated brake testing on each wagon of a train. The system is expected to improve safety and increase efficiency.
The trial is already underway and will continue until November 2021, testing individual components of the system. The BMS has been installed on the first of two wagon sets. It provides the train crew with status data that is visible on all sides of the wagon. All information on the wagon's status is automatically reported and all wagon settings are shown on a display in the locomotive. (ben)
