Transport capacities still scarce
Data compiled by the German IT company, Timocom, showed that Europe’s transport market was extremely robust in Q4/2018. When commenting on the transport barometer’s current figures, Timocom’s spokesman Gunnar Gburek said: "The transport industry experienced a traditionally strong Q4.”
The company uses an analytical tool to ascertain how supply and demand for transport develops on the freight exchange that is integrated in Timocom’s smart logistics system.
After Q4/2018 was evaluated, it was seen that demand from the companies that placed their freight offers on the transport market via Timocom exceeded the available truck capacities by more than two-thirds.
In Q4/2018, the freight exchange registered an average of 71 freight offers and only 29 truck capacity offers. Gburek added: "Transport prices will remain under pressure in 2019, as transport capacity is still scarce.” (mw)
