Testing a new rail route for containers
Trans Container, Russian Railways (RZD) and Ulaanbaatar Railways (UBTZ) have organised the first railway shipment of containers from China to Russia via the Solovyevsk border-crossing point (Zabaikalsky Krai) on the Russian-Mongolian border.
To date, this border-crossing point has never been used for railway container transportation. Two large-capacity containers were used in the trial transport from Bayantumen station in the east of Mongolia, from where the cargo will go via the Ereentsav /Solovyevsk border-crossing point to Trans Container's terminal in Saint Petersburg (Shushary).
