Tec Plata terminal opens in Argentina

It is official: Tec Plata, the new container terminal located in Puerto de La Plata (Argentina), has begun operations. Its opening ceremony was attended by the vice-governor of Buenos Aires province, the minister of production and other officials. Tec Plata is a subsidiary of Philippine-based port operator ICTSI.

The opening ceremony was highlighted by the arrival of the 218 m long "Jacarandá", a vessel operated by the Brazilian shipping line Log-In. The ship arrival marked the start of Log-In’s fortnightly operations at the terminal.

Tec Plata, an investment of USD 450 million, covers 41 ha in all, 25 ha of which have been allotted for containers. The facility is only 60 km from the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. (kd)
