Tanzania Railways to receive locos from Malaysia
SMH Rail’s "H10 Series", the first Malaysian built "green" locomotives, are ready to be handed over to Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC). The locomotives were built for use by the African freight operators with TRC as the launch customer and with funding support from the World Bank.
The "H10 Series" locomotive will reduce carbon emissions by up to 75% and are four times more fuel-efficient than road haulage on average, SMH Rail says.
Compliant with UIC standards, the "H10 Series" is designed for heavy haulage and uninterrupted long-haul services. One key feature is its capability to operate in challenging terrains and weather conditions. (ben)
