Takeover in Belgium
German Rhenus Group has acquired 80% of Wijnands Bulk Care, a logistics service provider located in Lanaken, Belgium, effective October 2021. Originally founded in 1934, Wijnands Bulk Care specialises in the transport of loose bulk products in western Europe. Its markets are chemicals, recycling, ceramics, steel and gelatine.
With this takeover, Rhenus' stores in this region will benefit from the experience Wijnands has gathered over several decades. "In addition to extensive regional know-how, Wijnands primarily contributes its vehicles, which are equipped with a unique cooling and tilting device," explains Thomas Maassen, managing director of Rhenus Transport.
The management around Harold Wijnands is expanded to include Sascha Hähnke, managing director of Rhenus Transport. Meanwhile, Miranda Frederiks-Wijnands is withdrawing from the company's management. (sh)
