Swiss Post sees profit dwindle
Swiss Post achieved a lower result in Q1/2019 than a year earlier. The mail service provider’s Q1/2019 consolidated net profit amounted to CHF 130 million, CHF 17 million lower than in Q1/2018. Ebit came in at CHF 172 million, CHF 35 million lower than in Q1/2018.
The company delivers an average of more than 500,000 parcels per working day. The volume of processed parcels in Switzerland, and both the import and export volumes noted an overall increase of 7.4% in Q1/2019.
Post Logistics posted an operating result of CHF 33 million in the period under review, CHF 1 million less than in Q1/2018. The main reason for the decrease was the cost to expand capacities. (mw)
