Swiss Post hasn't benefited from pandemic
In the first half of 2020, Swiss Post generated a group profit of CHF 30 million, CHF 163 million less than in the prior-year period. The corona pandemic has had a significant financial impact on the company, with a negative effect of around CHF 120 million on the H1/2020 result.
The pandemic has also accelerated trends in the company's core markets. Parcel volumes grew by around 22% in H1/2020 compared to the same period last year. From January to the end of June 2020, Swiss Post processed roughly 87 million parcels, up from 71 million in H1/2019.
Post Logistics reported an operating result of CHF 108 million for H1/2020, CHF 40 million above the figure for H1/2019. However, the growth in the logistics market was not strong enough to compensate for negative effects in other markets. (mw)
