Swiss Post continues transformation strategy


Swiss Post generated a group profit of CHF 457 million in 2021, 39% more than in 2020 (CHF 279 million). The pressure on the letter (-3%) and financial business remains unabated. Swiss Post will therefore continue to pursue its strategy to meet the needs of individual customers and companies.

 

In the logistics sector, the provider moved sidewards, achieving a result of CHF 465 million (CHF 5 million below 2020). Due to the boom in online trade and the lock down at the beginning of 2021, parcel volumes grew again by almost 10%.

 

Thanks to this trend and the acquisition of companies in the core business, the logistics services unit augmented its revenue by CHF 127 million last year.

 

However, rising parcel volumes also led to significantly higher costs in the human resources and transport units, requiring additional investment in infrastructure. This increased operating expenses in the logistics unit by CHF 132 million year-on-year. (sh)
