Strengthening ties between Kenya and Dubai
Dubai-based Emirates SkyCargo has signed an mou with the Kenyan cargo carrier Astral Aviation to enhance cargo connectivity to and from Africa. Astral’s network of 50 destinations and Emirates SkyCargo’s reach of over 145 destinations will help African businesses expand.
The agreement, signed at Air Cargo Africa by Emirates SkyCargo’s Badr Abbas (on the right) and Astral Aviation CEO Sanjeev Gadhia, includes interline options and block space deals to improve freight movement. Both airlines specialise in handling perishable and pharmaceutical cargo.
Abbas highlighted Africa’s economic potential, while Gadhia called the partnership a key step in the partners’ long-term collaboration. The UAE-Africa trade relationship is growing, with the Arab country now Africa’s fourth-largest global investor. The deal supports AfCFTA’s goal to increase Africa’s exports by 32% by 2035. (ah)
