Special waggons to transport steel coils
Linz (Austria)-based Logserv recently received 30 new 9435 Type Shimmns wagons from railcar leasing company Gatx. The wagons are well equipped for the transport of moisture-sensitive steel coils.
The 4-axle Shimmns car type has a sliding tarpaulin cover as well as one fundamental feature: a quickly adjustable, laterally operated spindle drive, which provides flexibility for fixing the coils. This enables forwarders to safely secure the cargo, Gatx said.
The new Shimmns are also furnished with the latest telematics and sensor solutions allowing for GPS and location tracking as well as geofencing and alerts to optimise transport management. (ben)
