Special container for green intermodal transport
With its 20 ft (6 m) long containers, Innofreight City Logistics is offering an eco-friendlier alternative for gypsum transports from the mining company Knauf in Austria. 120 t of building materials, excavated material and rubble can be shipped per double wagon in combined transport.
The natural gypsum is loaded onto City Logistics containers from a mine in Tragöss (Styria) and transported first to the freight station in Kapfenberg by electric truck. There, the City Logistics containers are transferred to 2×40 ft Innowaggons using a forklift and transported by rail to Knauf’s headquarters in Weissenbach. Innofreight has built a charging station for the e-trucks next to its headquarters. (ben)
