Solar-powered logistics facility underway

The port of Gothenburg and the Swedish real estate company Castellum have begun constructing a 45,000 sqm logistics facility at Halvorsäng, set to open in 2026. The fully leased building will house medical technology company Onemed, which aims to enhance healthcare services and emergency preparedness.

Built to “Miljöbyggnad 4.0” standards, the facility will include solar panels generating 3 GWh annually and aligns with high sustainability goals. The EUR 50 million investment represents a significant step in creating a modern logistics park near Sweden's largest port, providing excellent access to intermodal terminals and highways, the port of Gothenburg said in a press release.

Additional facilities, including high-storage buildings up to 35 m tall, will follow, making the area a key logistics hub in the Nordics. This development also supports the port of Gothenburg's commitment to climate-efficient freight transport and innovation. (pb)
