Signalling technology for railfreight
Supported by the regional government of Extremadura, the Spanish infrastructure manager Adif is building a new intermodal railfreight terminal, the Mérida Logistics Platform, in the west of the country.
To this end, it is necessary to connect the infrastructures with the railway lines that are part of the general interest railway network (Red ferroviaria de interés general - RFIG) operated by Adif.
Thales has now been awarded the contract to adapt the safety and communications installations affected by the new track configuration. Two branches will be constructed on the Mérida - Los Rosales section and will be linked up with the general rail line. (ben)
