Shipping giant launches rail service

A.P. Moller - Maersk is flagging off Pratigya Express, a new dedicated weekly rail service running on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) from the National Capital Region (NCR) around Dehli to the Pipavav Port in Gujarat on the western coast of India.

Pratigya Express will move cargo from Sonipat ICD to APM Terminals Pipavav Port with a transit time of two and half days. From there, there will be options to connect to further transport services. Pratigya Express is expected to carry 90 teu every week.

APM Terminals Pipavav Port also plays an important role as the first port to be connected to the DFC and has excellent connectivity to the hinterland through its rail head and road infrastructure, Maersk said. (ben)
