Second terminal in Abidjan in the making

The Côte d’Ivoire Terminal in the port of Abidjan recently received a range of new equipment. No fewer than six STS gantries and seven RTG gantries were installed. This handling equipment was manufactured by ZPMC in China and will be used to start the operational testing stage before the planned commissioning on 1 November 2022.

"More than 95% of all construction work is complete,” said Koen de Backker, managing director of the Côte d’Ivoire Terminal. After an overall investment of 262 billion CFA francs (USD 40 million), the second container terminal at the port of Abidjan will feature fully electric equipment, including six STS gantries, 13 RTG gantries and 36 Gaussin tractors. It will also be one of the next to obtain the Bolloré Ports Green Terminal label from Bureau Veritas." (sh)
