Schäflein initiates courier service
Because most shops in their city are closed, three companies in Schweinfurt (Bavaria, Germany) have launched a courier service. Logistics services provider Schäflein delivers goods weighing up to 500 kg on the same day.
On the website www.schaeflein-city.de retailers place transport orders which are carried out by e-bikes, cars and vans.
Schäflein owes the rapid launch of the new courier service to the support of software providers Eikona and Fleetboard Logistics, which, free of charge, have developed an IT solution consisting of a combination of web portal and order management.
The city of Schweinfurt has provided a rent-free office in the city centre to be used as an operations room for the new service. (mw)
