SBB Cargo feels corona impact in H1/2020
The Swiss railfreight company SBB Cargo reported a loss of CHF 27.7 million in H1/2020. In contrast, the first six months of 2019 had ended with a profit of CHF 0.25 million. SBB Cargo International recorded a loss of CHF 4.21 million in H1/2020, against a profit of CHF 1.02 million in H1/2019.
All in all, railfreight's transport performance decreased by 12.4% to 7.41 billion net tonne kilometres in the first six months of 2020, whereby SBB Cargo Switzerland suffered a more significant decline than SBB Cargo International.
Transport performance in Switzerland dropped by 16.6% to 2.57 billion net tonne kilometres compared to a 10% decrease to 5.31 billion net tonne kilometres in international networks. (ben)
