Savannah speeds Indian cargo by eight days
The port of Savannah now offers faster logistics for cargo from India, reducing transit times to US inland markets such as Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas by up to eight days, compared to west coast ports.
With six weekly direct services to Indian ports, including Hazira, Mumbai, Mundra and Pipavav, and a total of ten services to the Indian Subcontinent, ocean transit times are as short as 29 days.
Savannah’s Mason mega-rail terminal, the largest on-terminal rail facility in the western hemisphere, ensures rapid cargo movement, with rail dwell times averaging just over one day. Key exports to India include forest products and steel, while imports feature textiles and machinery. (pb)
