Russia and France to rely on hydrogen railways
Russian Railways (RZD) and French rail company SNCF have signed a roadmap for the use of trains running on hydrogen fuel cells and the systems required for their support operations.
The roadmap also contains the introduction of other green technologies that male the rail sector more eco-friendly.
The roadmap defines the direction of the cooperation between Russian Railways and SNCF for the next three years, in terms of safety, design, maintenance and the certification of freight and passenger rolling stock. it also envisages cooperation on other types of traction that will reduce the use of diesel fuel.
