Rotterdam tightens its international links

The port of Rotterdam authority in the Netherlands is intensifying its activities in Central Europe and South Asia, e.g. in Poland and India. Only recently, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed for a more intensive partnership between the port of Rotterdam and the Polish Szczecin and Swinoujscie seaports authority.

The partnership will focus on consultancy, hinterland connections, strategy and digitisation. Currently, about 4 million t of freight for Poland pass by Rotterdam every year. The mutual value of trade rose from 11 billion EUR in 2018 to EUR 22 billion ten years later. Moreover, by signing two MoUs, appointing a representative office in India and supporting the establishment of a maritime university in collaboration with educational institutions in Rotterdam, the Dutch port emphasises its joint activities with parties in India.

Broekman Logistics India has been acting as the representative team since October 2019. Operating in India since 2006, the company has sixteen offices in India with a presence in all major ports and trading cities, including Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Kolkata. (fd)
