“Re-setting” Europe–Australia air cargo routes
Consol Alliance, an Australian wholesaler founded in 2011, and the recently-formed airfreight consolidator Wholesale-by-Vels, have entered into a strategic partnership to develop trade air cargo business on the Europe-Australia route.
Initially, the alliance will operate weekly, trade-only unitised airfreight consolidations from Amsterdam to major Australian airports, but import services from Australia to Europe are also on the agenda.
Receiving and build-up facilities have been set up by Wholesale-by-Vels in Amsterdam, while Consol Alliance will use its handling centres to break bulk in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, for local release, or for transfer to its regional stations in Adelaide and Fremantle.
Alana Raitt, Consol Alliance’s airfreight product manager, pointed out that her firm "is already one of the big three operators on this route. (ah)
